Praise the Lord Everyone,
Introduction
Welcome to the Youth Ministry. Today, I bring a message that I believe is crucial for the youth. For some time, I hesitated to address this topic, but as I observe the growing challenges faced by young Christians, I feel a pressing need to speak up. This message concerns the importance of being an active part of a church and remaining under the guidance of a pastor.
The Crisis of Church Disengagement
Why Are Young People Disengaging from Church?
Today, many young people are confused about the role of church and pastoral guidance in their lives. Some don’t have a pastor, while others do but choose not to follow them. There is a rising trend of youth avoiding church altogether, substituting physical fellowship with online alternatives like YouTube sermons and Zoom meetings.
The Long-Term Consequences of Avoiding Church
Let me tell you, this choice can have severe consequences. If you don’t go to church today, chances are your future family won’t either—spreading a pattern of disconnect from God’s house through generations.
The Limits of Online Worship
The Pros and Cons of Virtual Services
With the rise of online platforms, there have been both benefits and drawbacks. Virtual services have made it easier for those who live far from their home churches to stay connected and listen to sermons. However, for those nearby, Zoom meetings have become an excuse for laziness, leading to a significant loss of spiritual connection.
Why Physical Fellowship is Irreplaceable
Personally, I rarely conduct Zoom meetings because my soul feels disconnected from people through a screen. We need real, physical fellowship to grow spiritually and stay accountable.
The Ego in Youth Ministry
Overconfidence Among Young Believers
In my experience, some young people become overconfident because they can read the Bible or pray independently. They disregard the need for pastoral guidance and, in some cases, start their own Facebook or YouTube live sessions to preach.
The Danger of Seeking Recognition Over Service
While online engagement can be positive, it’s important to remember that simply going live does not make one competent or spiritually mature. Many are tempted by the idea of fame rather than genuine service. True growth requires humility, dedication, and a willingness to learn under a pastor’s guidance.
The Dangers of False Teachings
The Rise of Misleading Doctrines Online
Today, we’re witnessing a surge in misguided teachings spread through social media. Some individuals are promoting teachings that discourage prayer, fasting, or other core spiritual practices.
Why You Need a Church and a Pastor for Guidance
This is why we all need a church—a real, physical community led by a genuine pastor who spends time with God and can provide authentic guidance. God has ordained that He speaks to us through His messengers, which is why online substitutes cannot replace the church’s role.
True Spiritual Growth Through Church Engagement
Personal Experience with Church Growth
I want to be direct with you. The growth I’ve experienced in my own life, as well as the growth I’ve seen in others who are actively involved in church, cannot be achieved by simply listening to online sermons.
The Difference Between Listening and Participating
Those who sow seeds in their church, dedicate themselves to service, and stay under the guidance of their pastors experience a level of spiritual maturity that is unmatched. Listening to sermons on YouTube or Facebook is fine, but it should never replace your participation in a church community.
Serving and Learning from Your Pastor
Why Service in the Church Matters
Spiritual growth involves serving in your church, taking on responsibilities, and working for your church’s betterment. Learn from your pastors, stay close to them, and seek their counsel.
The Example of Jesus: Humility in Leadership
Service is not just about preaching online—it’s about humility, accountability, and showing up, even in small ways, like helping to clean the church or praying with your pastor. Jesus Himself washed His disciples’ feet, setting a powerful example of humility despite His greatness.
The Call to Youth: Stay Grounded in Your Church
Resist the Temptation of Social Media Fame
To all the young people hearing this message, stay close to your church and your pastors. Do not let the lure of social media fame or the convenience of online worship pull you away from your local church.
Find a Church Where the Spirit is Active
God values humility, faithfulness, and a willingness to serve. Be part of a powerful, living church—one where the Spirit is active, where prayers are lifted, and where the pastor is connected to God’s Word. Only in such a community will you find the “current” needed to ignite your faith.
Conclusion
I encourage you to share this message with your friends, family, and fellow youth. Let’s remind each other of the importance of genuine church involvement and the value of pastoral guidance. Stay committed to your church, and may your walk with God be strengthened through the fellowship of a faith-filled community.
